The Division

The Customer Strategy and Technology Division (CST) brings a customer and future lens to shaping mobility solutions and provides the state-wide services of today.


The opportunity

Right now, we have an exciting opening for an Automation Test Analyst to join the Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) team. The SCATS team is responsible to design & develop products to maintain global leadership, drive global commercialisation & provide customer support. This position is fixed term full time until 30 Jun 2024 and is based at Strawberry Bills with flexible work options available.

You will undertake a range of automation testing and activities to ensure that the Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) system complies with business requirements and solution design as identified in the branch’s technology roadmap. The role also executes quality and test assurance solutions that deliver value and meet system and operational requirements.


What you will be involved in:

  • Perform automation testing to support projects in demonstrating compliance with relevant systems assurance processes engineering standards and technical and user requirements.
  • Provide advice and systems expertise to assist with the development of technologies to streamline assurance and testing activities.
  • Prepare a range of testing documentation including plans, completion reports, daily reporting and other test management deliverables to provide communication and inform decision-making.
  • Perform hands on test assurance, test preparation and execution, including UAT and other test phases as required to meet system and operational requirements.
  • Perform test assurance oversight and reviews over vendor owned testing artifacts and activities.


About you:

  • Demonstrated and proven experience in the design, development and maintenance of software systems across the lifecycle.
  • Experience writing test automation scripts in any of these programming languages - C#, JAVA, JavaScript, Python
  • Experience with test automation frameworks like Cypress, Playwright
  • Experience in traffic management including understanding of traffic control theory and or mission critical software systems is highly desirable.


Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Transport Service Grade 8 ($123,470 - $138,284) plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
